Product Details
A superb Directoire vase decorated in the Cartel de Fleurs Fond Blanc avec Rinceaux Or pattern
The "Directoire" style refers to a transitional period in French design (roughly 1795–1804) that bridges the elegance of Louis XVI with the grandeur of the Empire style.
  • Background and Palette: The vase features a pristine white porcelain background, which serves as a canvas for vibrant, multi-coloured floral sprays or bouquets.
  • Gold Scrollwork: Rich, raised gold scrolls (often referred to as rinceaux) and floral swags are applied by hand, typically using liquid 24k gold to create a luxurious, textured finish.
  • Directoire Form: Vases in this style often exhibit a classic amphora-like silhouette with a tapered body, sometimes resting on a pedestal or footed base.
  • Handles: It is common for these vases to feature ornate handles, which may be shaped as stylised swans, a hallmark of the Directoire and Empire periods.

Pattern: Cartel de Fleurs Fond Blanc avec Rinceaux Or (floral sprays on a white background with gold scrolls)
