A Jardiniere decorated in the 'Marie Antoinette' pattern by the Le Tallec artist MC

Rococo Revival style Limoges porcelain jardinière (also referred to as a cachepot or table centerpiece). It is heavily influenced by 18th-century Sèvres porcelain shapes and color palettes.

Style: Rococo Revival, featuring asymmetrical scrolling acanthus leaf feet and curvilinear rims trimmed heavily in gold leaf.

Decoration: Hand-painted polychrome floral bouquet framed inside an elegant white cartouche. This pattern was created in Sevres for Queen Marie Antoinette when she was wedded to King Louis XVI at Versailles. See page 86 of Atelier Le Tallec Hand Painted Limoges Porcelain: For Connoisseurs, Royalty, and Tiffany and Co. (Keith & Thomas Waterbrook-Clyde, 2003).

Palette: Deep claret / cranberry red background embellished with intricate gilt trailing scrolls and foliage.

Function: Used traditionally as an upscale indoor flower planter or a decorative formal table centerpiece bowl.
